Insurance Restoration

Curren Environmental, Inc. services the insurance industry through the remediation of environmentally related claims. Curren can address environmental losses through a variety of remedial approaches. While there is a wide range of environmental options available to remediate petroleum contamination, we have found that the simplest approaches tend to be the most economical, timely and effective. The direct excavation and disposal of the impacted soils tend to provide fast and effective solutions.Case in point of this approach is recently completed project by Curren. The details of the project are as follows:

Curren was contacted by the insurance carrier to address a sudden discharge of petroleum from a residential Aboveground Storage Tank (AST). The tank leak affected both soils and groundwater on the subject site. Visible petroleum staining was apparent around the perimeter of the dwelling and migrating to the neighboring property. (Photo 1). Due to both potential further impact of neighboring properties and further migration of the contamination into the groundwater table, Curren fast tracked the remedial activities. Impacted soils were preclassified into a licensed thermal treatment facility. This approach allowed for the direct excavation and load out of the impacted soils, as soils were thoroughly saturated with petroleum contamination and space for staging soils was not available.

Curren dispatched a field crew to address the contamination and prevent further migration of contaminants into the groundwater which was present at approximately 36" b.g.s. (below ground surface). (Photo 2).

In conjunction with the remedial excavation activities both air and water extraction piping was installed for potential future vapor and water remedial approaches. (Photo 3) (Based on the consultants soil sampling results and environmental regulatory agency review of the site, the piping was not required to be utilized.)

Upon completion of the remedial activities, the affected areas were restored to their condition prior to the loss. Groundwater monitoring points were installed on the property for monitoring of the effectiveness of the remedial activities. (Photo 4). This specific claim was addressed on an expedited basis and completed to closure.
