## Aboveground Tank Removal

### Oil heat was and is popular in Delaware.  Natural gas lines were not readily accessible or affordable for home heating, so oil tanks were a natural substitution.  In realty natural gas did not become popular until deregulation of the gas industry in the 1970's.   So oil or propane were your only choices until that time.

### But oil was used well after the 1970's.  The photo below is a home built in 2004, which used a 1000 gallon heating UST.  The average lifespan of tank today is about 20 years so removing this tank in 2022 was prudent.

The photo below is from a bank building on Dupont Highway.  Although gas is now present on the road, it was not utilized as a fuel source for the bank.  A sale of the property triggered the tank removal.
